At Last

Lori and Miss Jackson at the LaSalle Branch. -SJS 2009
"At Last." -Etta James.
Just like the tumultous journey from possibly closing to renovation to reopening, Saturday's stormy skies cleared up and smiled down on us. The LaSalle dedication and RetroFest went well. In fact, I think it was the best year yet. It was a special day on so many levels. The planning and work so many people put into remodeling the city branches are almost complete as Tutt will reopen in late September. Three of the four city branches are now officially open and running. Patrons and staff were so happy and enjoyed the day. We had over 600 people in attendance. The costumes people wore were beautiful and the music was outstanding. Miss Jackson's rendition of "At Last" seared through my heart and brought tears to my eyes. Little Frank and the Premiers provided wonderful blues and jazz to the branch. And Carol Keppler kept young audiences entertained with balloon art and face painting. My chapter on remodeling the LaSalle Branch is now closed. This is my happily ever after. At last. :)
