Marimba and Ice is an old friend. I may not visit or write as often as I intend to, but this blog has been here since 2005. We've been through a lot. I momentarily panicked when I could not remember the password to access the dashboard, but obviously I am here and so are you, so all is well.
Hope you are well.
Spring has sprung since we chatted last, and National Poetry Month(April) finished up this weekend. What else is going on? I'm still learning a new job that I still love. I'm spending time with Steve, the fur kids, and loved ones. I harassed Steve about turning as old as me this month. (We're the same age for three months.)
I co-edited a poetry anthology called WordPlay. I co-wrote a gaming article for a blog called Gnome Stew that was released last week. Collaboration is a lot of fun--I think that is where I do my best writing. I'm writing copy for our teen blog at work, and I'm stumbling through maintaining our Instagram account at my job. …
I am now paying for the siesta I took this afternoon; it is almost 3:00 a.m. and I am writing instead of sleeping. Steve and two of the four cats are sprawled out on the bed. Perhaps a king-size bed is not out of the question. The weather is slightly chilly, so I am donning Hello Kitty pajamas and curled up on the couch with a favorite grey blanket.
Oscar is taking advantage of the fact that I am in the living room; he stared at me with those gorgeous orange eyes and begged to be let out on the porch. So, I caved. He is now camped out on top of the cat condo, and probably will not move until dawn. Lucky cat; sleep still eludes me. Hopefully some almond milk will help. I now stand corrected: the two youngest cats are running back and forth and playing out on the porch.
Well, you may already know this, but if you don't, here goes: I GOT THE JOB!!! :) I received the telephone call last Thursday. On the week of July 4, I will be starting my new gig as the Teen Services Librarian a…
The lilies are in full bloom in the garden Chez Sigety, so it must be July. A couple of months have passed since the last post, so I can fill you in on some events that have occurred:
Steve and the kitties are doing well. They are my world-- this home would just be an empty house without them.
I had forgotten that the busy-ness of summer reading in public libraries is much like retail during the holidays! Yowser! We are keeping busy at the Middlebury Community Public Library, and if my teens check out and read 1,500 books (fiction and nonfiction) in June and July, I will dye my hair blue for Gen Con in August. I have a sneaking suspicion that I will indeed have blue hair, especially since graphic novels and manga are permitted and tend to be fast reads. And, I am proud to brag that I have awesome teens. They are my kids and I am so proud of them.
Speaking of libraries, I celebrated one year on July 5. It's been quite a year--I have learned a lot personally and profession…
