February Poetry

There was an art opening for young artists (grades 7-12) last night at the Century Center.
A friend gave me a free ticket, so I decided to check it out. Impressive!
I also borrowed a piece of paper from someone and wrote down these poems.
Enjoy!

Listening to jazz
outside an art opening
crowd shy with drum envy.

Warm spirits inside
contrast with
tundra cold outside.

Jazz Song

When the drummer’s on break,
I hold myself back
at the round table,

Gold drumkit glistens,
I hold myself back
from stealing his brushes,

I hold myself back
from sitting at his cocktail drumkit,
for a song, for just one more

jazz song.
