Finisher

Life is fleeting; I missed Christmas and New Year's on here, so Happy Everything! The good news is that I finished the 52 Week Hiking Challenge for 2024 on January 30. It was cutting it a little close, but it's finished. Woo-hoo!
Instead of ordering a medal that would hang in my office and collect dust, I ordered a sleeveless shirt that has the event, the year 2024, and the word "Finisher" on it. For a neurospicy gal who takes medication for basic executive functioning purposes like rising out of bed, finishing something is a big deal.
There have been so many starts and stops that I'm surprised I don't suffer from permanent whiplash. I'm constantly figuring out strategies to unstick this stuck mind. Sometimes it's like quicksand, I'm sinking lower into freeze mode until someone (usually Steve) will reach in and pull me out of my head. In recent years I've been improving on asking for the lifeline, but it's always a challenge and a process.
The 52 Hikes inspired me so much, that I signed up for another year. I chose the Adventure Series this time. There are a few more objectives besides hiking at least one mile outside on a different path. Later today, since it's after midnight, Steve and I are taking the parents hiking on Boot Lake Nature Preserve located in Elkhart, Indiana. I wonder if we'll find a groundhog looking for its shadow.
