Carry On

 Happy Sunday!

The wildflower seeds continue to grow! The weather was amazing yesterday here in northern Indiana! The temps surpassed the 60s and reached 72 degrees. Steve and I took advantage of the weather and trekked the Riverwalk. It was lovely. Now that Mother Nature teased us with spring, she has flipped back to winter. I call it "swinter" here in the Great Lakes area.

A lot has been happening in the writing world: the poetry book has been born and is out in the universe! It didn't have a lot of fanfare. In fact, it was like a soft opening to a business or restaurant. We've been working on it for two + years, and like a whisper, the book was born and it's out there. I need to order some copies to have on hand for events. Also, I need to figure out how to accept money for it. I may need to invest in one of those thingies (for lack of a better term) to accept credit cards. (Note to self.) I have some gigs coming up in April, so I'll post either in another blog entry or on the FB Writer's Page (or both).

I honestly think the main reason why the book emerged as a whisper because what is happening in Ukraine is both overshadowing and overwhelming. Over-everything. So over the pandemic and over the conflict. The scarier events that are happening in the world are not helping me emerge from the comfort of the home office. I could stay in here indefinitely. (Thank goodness for the face-to-face speech class twice a week.)  This world needs a reprieve.  My heart breaks for Ukraine and desperately hope there is a quick and peaceful solution. They do not deserve this terror.

There are good things happening at chez Sigety. Yes, the poetry book. April is going to be intense in the very best way. Also, only in the past two or three weeks, I have secured a writing gig as a professional blogger for an award-winning website. (Once I have the all-clear to talk about it, I'll share the website!)  It's humbling and scary and fun and I'm learning so much already! There are several other gigs that are coming in as well and it's all overwhelming.  I think the biggest challenge for me is juggling the projects, so nothing falls short. (So far, so good.)  I'm so grateful for Steve.  This journey would be so much harder without his unwavering optimism and support

I'm so grateful for the UpWork platform and Writer's Market.  Freelancing is what I wanna do, so I'm gonna give it my all.  I wasn't expecting the gigs to arrive so soon, but I'm extremely grateful. I just need to turn this anxiety into anticipation and move forward.

One step at a time. One day at a time. Carry on.
