August Musings

People tend to be sad when the summer season winds down. For me, this time of year rejuvenates and the top of the month is kinda like a big picture do-over.

This is how I rank my favorite seasons:
  • Late summer-early autumn
  • Early autumn-late autumn
  • Late spring
  • Early-mid-spring
  • Late spring-late summer
  • Late autumn-early winter
  • Late winter
  • January
I may have missed part of a season. But basically, 1) Fall, 2) Spring, 3) Summer, 4) Winter.

Summer hands-down used to be my favorite season. After deaths of loved ones and so many changes, navigating summer, especially July, continues to be exhausting. I do love spending time with family and friends. I cherish the long days and peaceful evenings.  I also love the memory garden; it is our happy, peaceful place. The flowers are the most beautiful when I am the saddest and continue to serve as consolers and friends.

I now crave structure and the excitement of going to or going back to school, the weather, the fun clothes, a new beginning, a new routine.  I enjoy the first day of classes; this fall I will not be teaching college and that makes me a little sad. However, with the continuing medical issues, I need the break.

Gen Con starts for us on Wednesday night. Although brief, we need this vacation badly. Steve and I are tired out. This event usually energizes us. He needs a break even more than I do, although he is usually good-natured. I'm proud of him.

More soon. Have a great month!
