Hibernation, SNL, and Stranger Things
Hey there. It's full hibernation mode over here, and having sweet cuddly lap cats does not motivate me to leave the house too often these days. I believe the soreness of arthritis and physical therapy has slowed me down a bit and no longer operate at 0 or 100. I've been at a slow and steady 60%, and I'm okay with that. I now understand why older peeps flock to warmer places like Arizona and Florida. Arthritis and cold weather do not mix.
Arthritis medication and physical therapy do mix well though, and I now fully understand the adage use it or lose it. I'm no longer scooting down the stairs on my behind at home and not limping like Yoda in Return of the Jedi, so that's progress. I'm determined to complete the Orc Stomp in Indianapolis again this year.
Last night I stayed up late to watch SNL with Steve. Finn Wolfhard, the person who played Mike, hosted the show. He's a natural. To have the confidence and poise at the age of 23, but he's been in front of a camera for a long time.
I am one of the Stranger Things fans who watched Season 5 on the first day it was released. Well-played, marketing team, releasing the last three parts on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. The series was a fun trip down memory lane, with a lot less cigarette smoke. I think that's the only detail that wasn't accurately portrayed in the show, but I read that it was a conscious decision, so younger audiences wouldn't be tempted to pick up that addiction. That makes sense.
I enjoyed watching Winona Ryder in her second act and loved the fact that the kids graduated in 1989; that was the year I graduated from high school, the best year personally.
That bit of nostalgia, plus the fact that the series took place in Indiana, and I learned how to play D&D as a tween made the series relatable. I'm sad that the series is over, but happy that I can always revisit the series again.
